ウクライナの子どものためのオンライン授業158回目を振り返ります。

Description: A Husband for a Mouse

8月は夏休みのspecial programとして日本の昔話を読んでいます。この日は「ねずみの嫁入り」のretold版「A Husban for a Mouse」をdrama activityにしました。1月に授業で読んだので、継続している子どもは覚えていますが、夏休みだけ参加の子どもには初見です。登場キャラクターは father, mother, daughter, humble mouse, the sun, the cloud, the wind, the wallの8人(?)なので、8人の子どもに役を振り分けました。「You have only two lines. Is it okay?」「You have to wait till the end.」など、納得の上で始めました。どの子どももセリフを「読む」のではなく「話し」ました。素晴らしかった。The windの役の6歳の子どもを褒めたところ「I just tried to speak like the wind.」と得意そうに言いました。

ワードサーチはオンライン授業には不向きだと思っていました。ですが、ある先生の授業で、子どもが見つけた単語をどこにあるか懸命に説明するのを見て、私の授業でも取り入れたいと思いました。ワードサーチ表に縦に数字を振り、彩子先生に「I see spring. It’s in Row/Line 1 and it’s the third letter.」のようにモデルしてもらいました。事前にhorizontalとverticalを教えました。答えた子どもに次の回答者を指名してもらい、全員で全問正解しました。来週は難易度を上げて、diagonalも教えようと思います。
